Overview
Las Coloradas has been for thousands of years, when the ancient Maya used this area to produce highly valuable salt, also a protected wetlands area home to animals like flamingos, crocodiles, sea turtles, jaguars, and all kinds of sea birds.
We will continue our tour by boat through the mangrove area, where we will observe a great diversity of birds that nest in the area, including on some occasions the Flamingo. Before finishing the tour, we will eat in a small fishing village with an unbeatable view of the Rio Lagartos.
Before finishing the tour we take a stroll around the colonial city of Valladolid to complete your experience. Valladolid is one of those places in which time goes slowly. This town still emanates the ancient magic of the Mayan inhabitants. Afternoons are made for wandering around its barrios full of colors, with its enormous houses that seem to talk about important moments in the history of the country, like the War of the Castes, The Colony and The Mexican Revolution.
